Healthy Homes Cary
Through the Healthy Homes Cary program, Cary assists low- and moderate-income homeowners with critical home improvements. This support helps residents age in place, preserve safe and sanitary housing, correct hazardous structural conditions, promote energy efficiency, and improve accessibility for persons with disabilities. Over 75% of residents assisted by Healthy Homes Cary are seniors.
Cary developed Healthy Homes Cary in partnership with local nonprofit Preserving Home. This program is funded through a combination of Cary General Funds and federal Community Development Block Grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This program invests in Cary’s housing stock, building community resiliency, helping vulnerable populations save energy, and reducing our community’s greenhouse gas emissions. Since the establishment of the Healthy Homes Cary Program, other communities including the Town of Apex and Wake Forest have adopted Cary’s model. Cary looks forward to more communities collaborating on this effort to keep residents in their homes and provide high-quality housing options for all.
